Prevalence of the Coeliac Disease among Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Followed Up at the Endocrine Unit in the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children Colombo

Prevalence of coeliac disease in type 1 diabetes is approximately 10 times common compared to the general population [1-3]. Most children with Coeliac remained asymptomatic [1,3]. Screening for a recommended practice, though it not done our country due financial restrictions. We conducted descriptive cross-sectional study describe prevalence cohort patients attending Pediatric endocrine clinic at Lady Ridgeway Hospital Colombo Sri Lanka. Our sample size was 56 patients, aged 1-16 years. Out them only two were found have disease. Thus, 3.5%, and global range. Further studies are needed recruiting larger decide whether routine screening beneficial children.
